More than 93% of healthcare organizations have experienced a data breach in the past three years. On March 14, Prime Health Services became the target of such an attack from a group identifying itself and later confirmed to be Darkside. Within an hour of the attack, PHS was able to respond and contain the incident. We quickly communicated with our clients and initiated a thorough investigation with the assistance of a top forensics firm and federal authorities. While the investigation is continuing, to date there is no indication that any client data, including any patient data, was accessed. Other important data was stored on servers not subject to the ransomware attack. We are already, and will be continuing to take appropriate action to ensure the security and privacy of our and our clients’ information.
