California MPN Overview
Participation in a California medical provider network, or MPN, is an important component of a medical cost containment strategy. MPNs help employers and insurers support timely access to care, manage the duration of workers’ compensation claims, and connect injured workers with qualified medical providers.
In California, an MPN is a group of health care providers used by employers to treat employees injured on the job. MPNs must meet specific requirements, including timely treatment access, appropriate geographic availability, and an adequate mix of physicians, medical facilities, and specialists experienced in workers’ compensation care.
Certified Network Participation
Each MPN is certified individually for an insurer and goes through a certification approval process with the California Division of Workers’ Compensation.
Health care providers included in our California MPNs may include physicians, surgeons, psychologists, acupuncturists, optometrists, dentists, podiatrists, chiropractors, physical therapists, and other ancillary service providers.
